Alter anything to suit your style!

Sometime ago, a girlfriend brought me her shell necklace and asked if I could make it nicer. It was this shell piece on a string with three little beads. I took it home and took it apart. And that's the way it stayed until I could find the right beads and design to compliment the shell focal point. Then after collecting and matching different beads I came up with this tribal princess design. (well that's what it looks like to me!) I'm not sure if you can see enough detail on this picture, but my camera is too busy charging to work for me right now, so this will have to do!

A Sugar Plum Fairy

My dreams are filled with sugar plum fairies dancing around my head.
Cakes, cookies and candy all brightly colored and smelling sweet. And packages wrapped with papers from a time long ago.....the air is crisp and the wind is rushing around making my hair fly!!
May all your holiday dreams come true!

Mad Tea Party Art Necklace

Here's my latest art necklace.
Alice in Wonderland has always been an intriguing story to me, one of my favorites....

I remember that I grew up with a picture of her on my wall in my room! I will hunt it down and post it later. It's a cool vintage picture with Alice holding a pink flamingo
standing next to the Queen. ...

Ok, so on to the idea of a Mad tea party,
it seems like it would be so much fun to have one, don't you agree?? Wear your favorite hat and come over for tea and treats!! I can see it now, a long table with lots of different teapots and teacups along with a variety of sugars and special treats. Just mind your manners and no shouting!! Tea anyone??

Feeling Blessed and Beautiful

Yesterday I receive this beautiful handmade purse from my friend and art sister Jenny Doh. This picture doesn't begin to show just how beautiful the purse is, but take my word for it, it's stunning!!
Later when I was prancing around the house modeling my purse and feeling beautiful, I began to wonder....
What is it about purses and shoes that make us feel so beautiful?
I'm not sure, but whatever it is.....I feel blessed and beautiful!

Come Take a Peek!

Here's a little look inside my world. My studio is where you can usually find me (unless I'm shopping at the Salvation Army!) I have been organizing my supplies and trying to create a comfortable workspace. It's a challenge to stay focused and not start making art!!
Can you see I've made some progress ??!
In front of the closet you can see my new stamping bar.
It's really a breakfast bar that I found at the Salvation Army for $10!
The red stool is originally from Pottery Barn, but I found it at the Salvation Army.....for $15!
You just never know what you will find there!

Next is my art board.....lots of artsister art here!!

Finally, here's my desk....one end for writing with the other end for sewing and fabric work. I do my jewelry design and construction in the middle and all over the place!!

Next year I hope to create and share more art!
Cheers, Lisa

Road Signs.....

Thoughts become things......
Think good thoughts.....

Both of these ideas have come crashing into my life. While on my art sister trip I was told about a daily message you could receive on your computer....it sounded interesting so I told my art sister Catherine to send me the link......well , of course she did and the message that is always there is......Thoughts become things.

Also during my art sister trip I went junking and salvaging with some girlfriends.
At one of the places we went to I reached my hand into a box of rubber stamps and found this simple word stamp: Just Think Good Thoughts.......

After coming home these ideas have become my new mantra....thoughts become things......Just think good thoughts.
Let me tell you it really works!

The other day I went to the Salvation Army and found this cool display frame / case. This is amazing, because this is exactly what I had been envisioning and dreaming of the days before. I had even been shopping and comparing prices on my computer!!

Was this the Universe sending me a sign to keep going and thinking good thoughts, or was it just luck?! What do you think?
Have a Great Day & Just Think Good Thoughts!

Life and ArT Journal Pages

What is it about the end and beginning of things that makes us crazy??!
We seem to be creatures that take comfort in the predictable and unfortunately beginnings and endings do not usually fall into that category! My journals always seem to chronicle the really happy great times in my life or the terrible and tragic ones....never the everyday stuff.
Now I'm working on a new altered art journal. Trying to do something just for the fun of discovery and chronicle my life's everyday moments and treasure those when life is challenging me with others! Take a look.

Admit One

Here's the birthday card I'm working on for my husband.
I took the image of the couple dancing from a pocket flip book.
These are the perfect size for atcs or little cards! 40 plus pages for $4.

The 2 of US

Today was a day for cleaning and organizing my studio and supplies.
Everything was going well until I started playing with a box of scraps!
Oh well, I challenged myself to come up with a quick little project and here it is.....cardstock sewn over a cardboard form and then collaged.
The weight is nice and the size is oh so sweet! (1 1/2 x 3)
These could make nice little gift tags and enclosures....or add a ribbon and it could become your favorite bookmark. Cheers, Lisa

Feeling Connected

We never know who or what will influence our life, while living the daily adventure of our journey.
It was my first year at ArtFest when I crossed paths with Martha Dempsey. She was immediately friendly and invited me back to her room for a little happy hour art social! We had so much fun hanging out and sharing our lives and art!! Every night after, somehow ended the same....our group hanging out having fun!
Martha had such an easy way about her, life was just fun with her around! Last year Martha couldn't come to Artfest, because she was busy battling cancer. I'm sorry to say this week Martha passed away.
Thank you dear Martha for making me feel connected!! I will miss you untill we play again.
